Fair Trade Ornaments

I found these cute Fair Trade ornaments at my local Sprouts grocery story. These cute ornaments were completely handmade in Nepal by dZi, a Fair Trade artisan group using natural woolen fibers and earth-friendly dyes. A purchase of one of these ornaments supports artisans, their families and communities, and provide employment in a safe and healthy work environment.

The Church of the Transfiguration is conducting a Catholic Relief Services Ethical Trade Sale this weekend, November 16th and 17th after the 5pm, 9am and 10:30am masses. Ethically crafted items that change lives are being offered such as global home décor, Peruvian Christmas items, Holy Land Handicrafts, and various food products. Each item was made by marginalized artisans and farmers living in over 30 countries. By purchasing these ethically made products you bring dignity to their workplace, provide opportunities for their children to attend school and make their communities stronger.

This weekend is Fair Trade weekend at St John Vianney Catholic Church in San Jose. Before and after all masses, Fair Trade coffee including the new Equal Exchange Mama Tierra will be sold. Tea, chocolate and cocoa will also be available as well. A good time is guaranteed for all.

October is Fair Trade month! Celebrate the diversity of Fair Trade products. For example, Geo Organic's Fair Trade baked beans. The beans come from farmers who belong to the Jurihe/Zhaluteqi Nature Village Farmer Association. It is based in one of China’s poorest rural regions of Tong Liao City in Inner Mongolia.With the fair trade social premium, the farmers of he Fairtrade-certified co-operative voted to purchase a much needed well for their community.

Getting their Fair Share

Ben & Jerry's sources their cocoa from Fairtrade certified co-ops in Ghana and the Ivory Coast. With the $1.5 million in premiums, cocoa growers have installed solar panels, built a new medical clinic, and invested in rural schools and scholarships for children. How a company in Berlin is turning coffee grounds into recycled reusable cups. Kaffeeform, a Berlin-based start-up, has been creating coffee cups from recycled coffee grounds. Continue to celebrate National Eat Your Vegetables Day with one of my favorites, Artichokes. Did you know that you can support a fair deal for farmers in the veggie aisle too? These artichokes are grown in Peru, where rich, fertile soil and glorious sunshine produce some of the world's most delicious artichokes.

World Day Against Child Labor

Today is World Day Against Child Labor! Sadly, 152 million children around the world are still in child labor. Agriculture accounts for 7 out of every 10 children who are working. Buy Fair Trade products to fight against child labor.

Come find Fair Trade Campbell this Easter Sunday on April 21, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm at the Campbell Farmer's Market.They will have a small table outside Redemption - a beautiful fashion and gift store with lots of fair trade, locally-made, and ethically-sourced products. Information will be available about Fair Trade, Fair Trade products in Campbell, and volunteer opportunities to help and promote Fair Trade in and around Campbell.

Archer Farms coffee will be 100% Fair Trade

Making your Target run for Organic Fair Trade coffee will be a whole lot easier in the future. Target reports that Archer Farms coffee will be 100% fair trade by 2022. Currently, about 20 percent of Archer Farms coffee — Target’s flagship coffee brand — is fair-trade certified. Good news for all;
